Sometimes it feels like everything we do is for nothing. We give and we pray and we believe and we hope and we hang on, but it can seem like there’s never a change no matter what we do. I think this discouragement is a strategy the enemy uses to convince us to give up. This is a battle that I’ve been faced with the last couple of weeks.
I’ve been questioning it all. Why?
Why be diligent when it seems like nobody cares? Why keep being kind when everyone else is not? Why keep looking foolish believing the best in others when they don’t seem to care about anybody else but themselves? I could go on and on with the questions that have arisen out of discouragement. The enemy has been trying to convince me not only to give up doing good, but to stop believing that God loves me. BUT……
This morning I woke up with a scripture and song in my spirit, and the Lord has encouraged me.
Isaiah 40:31–But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
When we wait on, hope in, and expect from the Lord, He SHALL answer us. He SHALL renew us. He SHALL strengthen us. There is plenty going on in this world to discourage us. Trials come to try and weaken us, but the Lord will use them to make us stronger in Him.
James 1:2– My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
We have to remember that the Lord may not always work the way we think He should or in our timing, but we must remain in faith and believe that He is always at work on our behalf (Romans 8:28, 1 John 2:1). We can’t let the lies of the enemy convince us to give up! God is faithful, and He will renew our strength as we wait on Him. Don’t give up!
